YouTube, the world’s largest streaming video site is about to start renting movies, an effort by owners Google Inc. to compete with Apple, Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu. In January, YouTube began to offer five movies in a partnership with the Sundance Film Festival. While YouTube currently offers mostly documentaries, Bollywood stuff and indie films, they are beginning to rent some mainstream movies, a sign of serious expansion and good things to come in the future. The movies currently cost between $1-$4 and payment is convenient using Google Checkout. To see the list of movies offered and get to the YouTube store, hit the jump.
