Last night, Thom Yorke (Radiohead) unveiled three brand new songs during a benefit show for the UK’s Green Party at the Cambridge Corn Exchange.  He performed without his newly christened side-project Atoms For Peace, who is set to start touring in April, and for a crowd of only about 300 lucky environmentalist amigos.  Hit the jump for some solid-sounding YouTubes of the new songs: (more…)

Here at OTNS we’re actually big fans of Scott Van Pelt. Seeing as how he declared Madison, Wisconsin the best college town in America, we can’t help but have nothing but love for dude. But he’s had a tough week, first he got the Howard Stern treatment and now he accidentally lets an f-bomb drop when he thought his mic was off. Oh, Scott…

Heroism is usually defined with words like: bravery, courage, strength, and resiliency, but I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that the ability to drink 764 ounces of Miller Light on a flight from Boston to L.A. makes you a true American hero.  That is a feat that ex-Yankee Wade Boggs was rumored to have defeated.  And supposedly, this was no isolated incident.  Former teammate Jeff Nelson was quoted as saying: “I’ve never seen anyone drink as much beer as [Boggs] did in my life…I’d say, on a typical road trip, east coast to west coast, say a road game to Seattle……Wade would drink anywhere between 50 and 60 beers…I know how crazy that sounds, and I wouldn’t believe it myself unless I saw him do it…..numerous times. And he drank nothing but Miller Lite.”  Hit the jump for more:

Wilco To Become Honorary Citizens of Madtown? 02/24/2010

In the middle of last week’s sold out Wilco show at the Overture Center in Madison, Wisconsin, lead man Jeff Tweedy joked, “Last night, the mayor of Duluth (Minnesota) made us an honorary Duluth band. And we’ve only played there twice. How many times have we played Madison? A lot. No key to the city, no certificate, nothing.”  His comments must have irked the shit out of Madison Alder Satya Rhodes-Conway, who yesterday wrote the Wilco Honorary-Citizen Proposition, citing their live “excellence” and how city newspaper The Isthmus called the band “America’s shiniest rock object.” She goes on: “Duluth, MN may be cool, but we would not want it said that either that fine city or its mayor are cooler than Madison and our mayor (even if Mayor Dave [Cieslewicz] is not sure who Jeff Tweedy is).”  What a hilarious show of beef between the border cities who have a history of bitter rivalry.  As Madisonians, we’d like to say Get Fucked Minnesota! – click more to read the resolution: (more…)

Please excuse the Lil Jon tags; as I know they are super annoying. For those of you who don’t already know, this song is a single off Tyga’s upcoming album Careless World which is set to drop some time this year.

This video was released yesterday, but I was unable to post it because it took so damn long for somebody to throw it up on youtube.  Anyways, after nearly 2 years since 808’s dropped the video for the most heart-wrenching track has been filmed.  Nabil Elderkin, who also directed the Paranoid and Welcome To Heartbreak videos, described the video as “haunting” as well as “minimalistic, slow and very visual.” Surprisingly enough, Ye does not make an appearance in the video and leaves it all up to this mysterious woman. If you really like the video that much, it is available for purchase on iTunes.

The Astonishing Tribe’s newest application is called the “Recognizr.” Essentially, you aim the camera and snap a picture of someone and all of their social networking information will appear. First, you have to subject yourself to upload a picture to the database to be recognized, but for all you creeps out there trying to stalk that special someone, this application is right up your alley! Invasive much? I think so.

The original unveiling of the Nike Hyperdunks was the commercial where Kobe Bryant jumped over a speeding Aston Martin. Well, the time has now come to pay homage to the notorious commercial that paved the way for the Hyperdunks. Nike is set to release a limited edition Aston Martin Hyperdunk in honor of the infamous commercial. The Kobe Bryant x Aston Martin Hyperdunks floss a chrome and metallic silver finish with a red leather interior that is made to resemble the luxurious interior of an authentic Aston Martin. Kobe’s signature is imprinted on the inside of the tongue, while the outside of the tongue has Kobe’s name featured above the Aston Martin wings and the Nike swoosh. It is rumored that Nike will only unleash 500 pairs of these tailor-made kicks, but have yet to give a public release date. Hit the jump for more pictures of these sleek shoes. (more…)

They say to keep your friends close, and your enemies even closer. But what about when you’re your own worst enemy? This was certainly the case for Pitt’s safety/linebacker Elijah Fields who was dismissed from the team last week after posting the above TwitPic. I’m not a detective or anything, but if you see a full-time student and athlete with this much cake sitting in neat stacks in his dorm room, I think it’s safe to assume that football wasn’t the only game Elijah was involved in. The fact is, people are stupid and stupid people often get themselves in trouble. Keep reading to see other examples of when snitches rat themselves out… (more…)

Marlon Wayans To Play Richard Pryor In Biopic 02/22/2010

There is no denying Marlon Wayans has made some terrible yet slightly comedic movies in his day, but few remember he did actually perform well in Requiem For A Dream. Wayans next project which has moviegoers livid and wishing Eddie Murphy got the role, is the Richard Pryor comedy biopic entitled Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said? The movie will have a stellar list of producers including Chris Rock, Adam Sandler and Jack Giarraputo. While Wayans has not proven a ton, I will go out on a limb and say he will perform well in this role and help make this movie a success. Expect to see it in theaters in late 2011.
