The first edition of the Amazon Kindle e-reader was released in late 2007 and now it is finally beginning to draw serious competition. The newest e-reader that has the tech world buzzing is the Skiff. The Skiff has the highest resolution of any e-reader to date and also claims to be the “most durable e-reader,” as it uses “first of its kind metal foil display, eliminating the fragility of glass.” A price and release date has not yet been set for the Skiff. To read more about it, check out the Skiff website. To see other types of e-readers, hit the jump below and be sure to keep an eye out for the Apple Tablet, which is expected to be released later this month.

Plastic Logic Que Pro Reader

Barnes & Noble Nook

Amazon Kindle 2

Sony PRS 600

The only one I have had the luxury to play with is the Amazon Kindle, which I thought was a really cool product, especially for avid readers and travelers.  I like how the Plastic Logie Que Pro Reader is geared towards business and has more capabilities than your basic e-reader, however I still anticipate for the Apple Tablet to blow these all out of the water.
